Founded in 2001 by cousins Julissa Gomez (lead vocals/songwriter) and Mario German (Guitar/songwriter). JULISSA is a NYC Latin ALternative Rock 'band' based in Astoria (Queens), New York who's members also include Albert Maldonado (guitar, co-writer), Carlos Fuentes (bass), and James Shephard (drums/co-writer).

Winners of BurgerKings 2007 'Tu Ciudad, Tu Musica' for New York region, and winners of the New York radio station LatinoMix105.9FM (Now La Calle) promo event battle of the bands 'Talento Local' in 2001. The band 'JulissaRock', often referred to as just 'Julissa', continues to wow audience everywhere they perform, breaking language barriers with their music and high energy stage performances regardless of the fact that all of their songs are sung only in spanish...proving time and time again wherever they go that music is the absolute universal language that can communicate to all of us regardless of spoken language, race or creed!

Julissa is unique in the genre of latin rock alternative in that, unlike many of their latin contemporaries who promote one specific genre (either Reggea, surf, punk, emo, etc...) sung in spanish, julissa on the other hand tries or attempts to embraces all of these genres while maintaining much of their latin heritage and influences (all latin - salsa, cumbia, basenova, bachata, merengue, etc...) which they so much would like to also promote and take to a new level of appreciation to the world! In doing so they prove too that if all styles of music can be fused together to create and form a new kind of beautiful harmony, then such harmony on this planet of ours is possible among the different cultures from which it came from!

Lets hope that through fan participation and support, by word of mouth, that Julissa can get this message across the globe and help in some way to bring us all a little bit closer through all of our musics, which belongs to all of us!
